Find a Book
There are so many books in the library, finding the right one can be tricky. That's why we have it organized into different parts to help narrow down your search, so you can find what you're looking for easily. The Park library is divided into different sections based on the different types of books and information inside them.
About Our Library Collections:
Book kits in our library have a CD included with them. This CD may have the story narrated on it aloud, so you can hear the story while you follow along with the book, or it may have information on it that enhances the information in the book.
The Everyone section refers to picture books. Some of your favourite characters live in this section where words are joined by pictures to tell stories.
The Readers are the books in the bins, and are meant for students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 who are just starting out on their journey of reading. They are usually short stories, although there are a few books about different subjects, like spiders and sharks.
Junior Fiction books are shorter chapter books meant for students who have been reading for a few years already, and are stories we hope all will enjoy!
Graphic novels are like longer comic books, except they are one whole story in one book. The Park library has a few Non-Fiction graphic novels that explore events and ways of life, but most are stories that are illustrated in the style of comic books. Some are based on your favourite actual comic book heroines and heroes!
The fiction section is made up of longer chapter books that are stories for older students. We have lots of the classics as well as many newer books, and while some may be based on real events or people, most are made up by the authors.
The non-fiction section is the largest section of our school library, and the books in it are books of true things, facts, and theories. You can use these books to help with your research projects, but we also have lots of books about fun things like crafts and sports.
Our reference section is small but mighty! Here you will find books that contain information that you may need to refer to every once in a while - how to spell a word, where a certain place is, or historical facts.
This is where Mrs. Decloe tirelessly keeps our school's videos and DVDs for students to borrow and watch with their families. We have a small collection that's one-of-a-kind in Georgetown libraries!
